What are hemorrhoids (Piles)?

Piles can be described as masses or clumps of tissue within the anal canal that contain blood vessels and the surrounding, supporting tissue (hemorrhoidal cushions).
They are of two types viz.
External hemorrhoid and internal hemorrhoids.

What Causes hemorrhoids?

  • Irregular bowel habits (constipation or diarrhea),
  • Improper Nutrition (i.e. low-fiber diet),
  • Increased intra-abdominal pressure (straining) due to Pregnancy, Exercise, Aging, obesity and sitting for long periods of time.

What are the symptoms of Hemorrhoids?

  • Bleeding Per rectum (blood covering the stool)
  • Painful swelling (pile mass) around the anus
  • Complications of internal hemorrhoids include bleeding, anal itchiness, prolapse, and gangrene
  • External hemorrhoids are painful while internal hemorrhoids usually are not painful

Management at SARC :

In first and Second grade Piles Local ointments (Pratisaraneeya Kshar) combined with and Enema of Medicated oil along with Herbal medicines.
However, in some cases Sclerotherapy (Treatment with Injection) is practiced. In Third grade Piles conventional Hemorrhoidectomy is done as per Ayurvedic Guidelines.
